Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ Storms Box Office, Crosses ₹400 Crore Worldwide in 5 Days

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s action-drama Coolie, starring superstar Rajinikanth, has delivered a powerful performance at the global box office. The film has officially crossed the ₹400 crore milestone in just five days, holding its ground despite a direct clash with the much-anticipated Bollywood film War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR.

According to a claim from the film’s producers, Sun Pictures, the movie grossed ₹404 crore worldwide in its opening four days. Trade website Sacnilk, while reporting slightly different figures, confirmed that the film’s total worldwide collection stands at an impressive ₹403 crore after five days. This includes a net collection of ₹206.50 crore and a gross collection of ₹244.55 crore in India, along with ₹157.45 crore from overseas markets.

This remarkable achievement makes Coolie the third-highest-grossing film of Rajinikanth’s career, surpassing previous hits like Enthiran (2010), Darbar (2020), and Petta (2019). The film now stands behind only his 2018 blockbuster 2.0 (₹691 crore) and the 2023 hit Jailer (₹604.5 crore). While Coolie has shown strong momentum, it still needs to surpass the lifetime collections of director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s previous films, Leo (₹605.9 crore) and Vikram (₹414.43 crore), to become his highest-grossing movie.

Coolie tells the story of Deva (Rajinikanth), a former union leader who seeks justice after the sudden death of his close friend. His quest for answers puts him in conflict with a ruthless gangster played by Nagarjuna. The film also features a star-studded cast including Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Upendra, and a cameo by Aamir Khan. It is important to note that the film is not part of Lokesh’s cinematic universe.
