Rajat Bedi Clarifies Old Remarks on Rakesh Roshan and Canada Move, Accuses Mukesh Khanna of Misquoting

Actor Rajat Bedi, currently enjoying a career resurgence following the success of the series The Ba*ds of Bollywood, has addressed a recent controversy stemming from old interview remarks about filmmaker Rakesh Roshan and his subsequent decision to move to Canada.

Bedi, widely recognized for his antagonist role as Raj Saxena in Koi Mil Gaya (2003), clarified that veteran actor Mukesh Khanna misinterpreted and misrepresented his statements to gain views on social media.

The actor revealed that a 2023 interview was heavily edited and circulated in a way that completely twisted his words. “My comments were taken out of context,” he stated, explaining that a casual chat about his career trajectory was turned into clickbait. The narrative, suggesting a fallout with Rakesh Roshan, particularly upset Bedi, who insists such a thing never happened.

“In an interview, I told him that I moved to Canada after Koi Mil Gaya’s release,” Bedi recalled. “But he used my statement to generate views. He stated that I moved to Canada after being sidelined in the promotions of Koi Mil Gaya. That was very wrong. How can you do it just to get hits and views on your video?”

Setting the record straight, Rajat Bedi affirmed that he shares a “very good bond” with the veteran filmmaker and holds immense respect for him, admiring how Rakesh Roshan would often perform scenes himself to help actors understand their roles.

Bedi’s decision to settle in Canada was purely personal and financial, not a result of industry politics or resentment over film promotions, contrary to what the viral video claimed. He explained, “I had films, fame, but no stability. It became difficult to sustain myself and my family, so I had to make a choice.”

After years away from the limelight, during which he worked in real estate in Vancouver, Rajat Bedi returned to India, determined to rebuild his acting career. With The Ba*ds of Bollywood earning him fresh acclaim, he is focused on being back on screen, on his own terms.
