From “Hit-And-Run” To Cold-Blooded Murder: Rajasthan Police Uncover Wife’s Chilling Plot

SRI GANGANAGAR — A case that began as a reported hit-and-run death on Friday, February 1, 2026, has taken a dark turn as police revealed a calculated murder plot. Anjali Kumar (23) has been arrested for allegedly conspiring with her lover of seven years to kill her husband, Ashish Kumar (27), just one year into their marriage.

While the crime was initially disguised as a road accident, forensic evidence and a failed “robbery” cover story led investigators to the truth.

1. The Incident: A Walk Turned Deadly

On the evening of February 1, Anjali took Ashish for a walk on a deserted stretch of road in 01KLM village.

  • The Attack: According to police, Anjali signaled her lover, Sanjay (25), who was hiding in the bushes with two accomplices, Rohit and Siddharth.
  • The Brutality: The trio allegedly beat Ashish with rods and sticks until he was unconscious. To ensure he wouldn’t survive, Sanjay then smothered him to death.
  • The Deception: Anjali handed over her earrings and Ashish’s phone to the men to simulate a robbery, then lay down and pretended to be unconscious to convince the first responders of a hit-and-run.

2. The Motive: A Seven-Year Secret

Investigations by Sri Ganganagar Superintendent of Police Amrita Duhan revealed a long-standing affair that predated Anjali’s marriage.

  • Forbidden Love: Anjali and Sanjay had been in a relationship for seven years, starting during their college days in Ravla. Despite her family’s knowledge of the affair, she was pressured into an arranged marriage with Ashish in October 2024.
  • The Breaking Point: The tension peaked when Ashish refused to let Anjali return to her former college for higher studies—a move she planned so she could meet Sanjay more frequently.
  • The Planning: The murder was finalized 16 days before the execution during a visit to Anjali’s parental home in Sadulshahar.

3. How the “Accident” Unraveled

The “perfect crime” fell apart at the hospital.

  • Autopsy Findings: Doctors found deep head injuries caused by blunt force and clear signs of manual strangulation/smothering—injuries entirely inconsistent with being hit by a motorcycle.
  • Missing Evidence: Police found no tire marks, glass fragments, or witnesses to support the “speeding biker” theory.
  • The Confession: Under sustained interrogation on Wednesday, Anjali broke down and confessed to the conspiracy.

4. Case Status: Four Arrests Made
