Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], May 28: Rajasthan is set to experience extreme weather conditions over the coming days, with a severe heat wave gripping western Rajasthan and thunderstorms expected in parts of the eastern region, according to the Meteorological Centre, Jaipur.
In western districts—particularly Jaisalmer, Phalodi, Bikaner, and Ganganagar—temperatures are forecast to soar between 44°C and 47°C, and may exceed 48°C at isolated stations. A red alert has been issued for these areas for the next three days, signaling potentially life-threatening heat conditions.
“The heat wave is expected to continue in the border areas of western Rajasthan. A red alert has been issued due to the intensity of the temperatures,” said Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Centre (Jaipur).
Additionally, parts of the Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions may witness strong storms with wind speeds reaching 50–60 km/h by this afternoon.
Meanwhile, eastern Rajasthan—including the Shekhawati area and parts of the Bharatpur division—is likely to experience thunderstorms and dust storms in the coming days. Some regions in southern Rajasthan have already received light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorm activity.
While maximum temperatures in eastern Rajasthan are expected to remain below 45°C, the minimum night temperatures in western areas will stay high, between 32°C to 34°C, resulting in warm nights.
Residents in the affected regions, especially in western Rajasthan, are strongly advised to take necessary precautions such as avoiding outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, staying hydrated, and monitoring weather alerts closely.
The Meteorological Centre emphasized that storm activity will intensify in eastern Rajasthan in the coming days, raising the possibility of severe thunderstorms and dust storms.
