New Delhi [India]: Chhattisgarh Finance Minister O P Choudhary on Saturday spotlighted Nava Raipur as a rising economic and development hub during the ‘Vichaar for Viksit Chhattisgarh’ conclave, positioning the city as a strategic urban center with advantages surpassing even Amaravati, the planned capital of Andhra Pradesh.
A Vision for Nava Raipur: Modern, Strategic, Green
“Nava Raipur spans a total area of 237 square kilometers. Such a large piece of land directly connected to our capital city is a huge advantage,” Choudhary noted, as he laid out the state’s vision of transforming the city into a model urban center.
He emphasized that India’s economic trajectory—currently at USD 3.7 trillion—is expected to surge to USD 30 to 55 trillion by 2047, as India aims to become a developed country.
“Tier 2 cities will play a bigger role than Tier 1 cities in this growth story,” he predicted.
Leveraging a Vast Land Bank for Development
Highlighting the state’s unique land resources, Choudhary pointed to the successful attraction of major investments and projects:
- Mayfair Resort
- Planned Semiconductor Unit
- Medicity and Edu City Projects
- Data Centres
“No other state has such a vast land bank. This is why we’re able to bring such high-impact projects to Nava Raipur,” he stated.
Tier 1 vs Tier 2: A Case for Nava Raipur
Contrasting Nava Raipur with existing metro cities, Choudhary discussed the growing urban stress in Tier 1 cities:
“In Tier 1 cities, a 5 km commute can take hours due to traffic. We’ve reached a point where distances are measured in time, not kilometers.”
He underlined Nava Raipur’s strategic location, saying:
“We’re just 90 minutes away from any metro city in the country—location, location, and location are the key formulas for growth.”
Sustainable Urban Development: A Green Edge
Choudhary also addressed growing environmental concerns:
“30% of Nava Raipur is dedicated to recreational and green spaces. The Air Quality Index (AQI) here, the green coverage, is unmatched by any other capital city in India today.”
With increasing public awareness about urban pollution, he added, cities like Nava Raipur—with their focus on sustainability—are poised to thrive in the future.
Conclusion
Choudhary’s remarks reflect a broader vision of inclusive, sustainable urban development and highlight Nava Raipur as a strategic player in India’s future economic transformation, especially as Tier 2 cities prepare to lead the charge.
