New Delhi [India], April 1, 2025: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday emphasized India’s four-pillar growth strategy while addressing the 21st DP Kohli Memorial Lecture on the occasion of the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) 62nd Foundation Day.
Four Pillars of India’s Growth Strategy
Vaishnaw highlighted the key drivers of India’s economic and developmental roadmap:
- Public investment in physical, social, and digital infrastructure.
- Inclusive growth programmes benefiting a large section of society.
- A strong focus on manufacturing and innovation to boost economic output.
- Simplification of legal and compliance structures for ease of doing business.
CBI’s Role in a Transformative Era
Reflecting on the legacy of CBI founder DP Kohli, Vaishnaw praised the institution’s evolution, calling it the “premier investigation agency” of the country.
He urged investigating officers to understand the rapidly changing economic and social landscape, stating,
“We are passing through the most transformative phase of the 21st century.”
Global Challenges and India’s Economic Position
Vaishnaw discussed major global disruptions, including:
- The COVID-19 pandemic
- Geopolitical conflicts
- The 2008 financial crisis
- The upcoming US tariff regime
He emphasized that these factors are reshaping the global economic order, making strategic policy-making crucial for India.
CBI Director Highlights Justice Reforms
CBI Director Praveen Sood, addressing the event, called 2024 a historic year for law enforcement agencies. He highlighted new procedural laws aimed at speeding up justice delivery, ensuring that victims receive time-bound resolutions.
Sood also mentioned the launch of the CBI portal “BHARATPOL”, initiated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which strengthens seamless coordination between law enforcement agencies across India.
“The portal will enable smooth and effective communication between agencies nationwide,” he added.
With India emerging as the fastest-growing major economy, the discussions at the CBI Foundation Day emphasized the role of governance, law enforcement, and economic policy in the country’s future growth trajectory.
