Chandigarh: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will visit Haryana on June 4 to engage with senior party leaders and observers as part of the Congress’ “Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan” — a campaign focused on strengthening internal organisational structure.
Haryana Congress Chief Udai Bhan confirmed the visit, stating:
🗣️ “Rahul Ji is coming to address and guide us on June 4. He will meet senior leaders at 11:30 AM at the PCC office and later interact with AICC and PCC observers.”
Prominent leaders including Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Kumari Selja, Deepender Singh Hooda, Randeep Singh Surjewala, and others are expected to be part of the high-level meeting. Rahul Gandhi will conclude his visit with a short trip to Chandigarh later the same day.
BJP’s Anil Vij Criticises Congress
Reacting to the Congress leader’s scheduled visit, Haryana Minister Anil Vij took a swipe at the party for failing to appoint a Leader of Opposition in the state assembly even after eight months since the elections.
🗣️ “They talk big about national issues, but in eight months, Congress has not decided on their Leader of Opposition in Haryana,” said Vij.
🎯 “Politics is strange — the same people who create infighting often become the peacemakers,” he added.
Internal Discontent and Leadership Tussles
Congress in Haryana has been marred by factionalism and internal power struggles, particularly between the camps of Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Kumari Selja. Rahul Gandhi’s visit is being seen as a bid to assert control, resolve leadership ambiguities, and boost the party’s groundwork ahead of upcoming local body and assembly polls.
The “Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan”, launched post-2024 elections, aims to revamp and energize party structures from the grassroots to state levels across the country.
