Raebareli (Uttar Pradesh) [India]: Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, visited the Modern Rail Coach Factory in Raebareli on Tuesday, where he engaged in in-depth discussions with officials on strengthening India’s railway infrastructure.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the railways, the Congress party posted on X, “Railways is the country’s ‘lifeline’. Only by strengthening it can we ensure convenience and safety for passengers.”
The visit to the coach factory was part of a broader itinerary in Gandhi’s parliamentary constituency. Earlier in the day, he chaired a ‘Disha’ meeting at Bachat Bhavan in the district Collectorate to discuss local development initiatives.
Further emphasizing his constituency’s focus on sustainable energy and innovation, Gandhi inaugurated a 2 MW Atom Solar Roof Plant and an Atom Electric Charging Station at Visaka Industries Limited. He also unveiled a statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, reinforcing the Congress party’s message of national pride and historical reverence.
This marks Gandhi’s second visit to Raebareli this year. During his February trip, he interacted with students and local residents on issues of education, employment, and social development, signaling a sustained grassroots engagement ahead of upcoming elections.
Simultaneously, Gandhi made national headlines earlier today by writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the government to convene a special session of Parliament in the wake of the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people on April 22.
In his letter, Gandhi wrote, “The terrorist attack in Pahalgam has outraged every Indian. At this critical time, India must show that we will always stand together against terrorism.” He added that the Opposition seeks to demonstrate a united national stance through a parliamentary session.
The Congress leader’s outreach comes at a time of intense political focus on national security, as parties across the spectrum express solidarity
