Rahul Gandhi Visits Pahalgam To Console Terror Attack Victims’ Families, Pledges Support To Government Response

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], April 25: Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is visiting Jammu and Kashmir, including Pahalgam, to console the victims of the recent terror attack, which claimed 26 lives, including one Nepali national.

Speaking to ANI, senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid stated, “Rahul ji is going to Kashmir and is also going to Pahalgam today to console the people who have suffered in the Pahalgam terror attack. We have said that we will stand by the government.”

Congress leader Vikrant Bhuria, speaking from the Bharat Summit 2025 in Hyderabad, emphasized that the party is also working toward a broader vision for social justice in the country.

Rahul Gandhi had cut short his official visit to the United States and returned to New Delhi early Thursday to attend an all-party meeting convened by the central government. “Everyone condemned the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The opposition has given full support to the government in taking any action,” he said following the meeting.

The terror attack occurred on April 22 at the Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where terrorists targeted a group of tourists, killing 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen and injuring several others.

In response to the attack, the Indian government has taken significant countermeasures against Pakistan, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 and closing the Attari Integrated Check Post, until Pakistan ceases its support for cross-border terrorism.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a Cabinet Committee on Security meeting following the attack, attended by Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior officials, to review the security situation.

The Indian Army remains on high alert and has launched multiple search operations to track down and eliminate the terrorists responsible.
