Rahul Gandhi To Unveil Statue Of Party Leader Patangrao Kadam

Sangli (Maharashtra) [India]: Congress leader and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi is set to unveil the statue of senior Congress leader Patangrao Kadam in Sangli, Maharashtra on September 5.

Patangrao Kadam was a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and represented the Palus-Kadegaon constituency. He passed away in March 2019.

The statue of Kadam would be unveiled on the occasion of Teachers Day at Sonhira Sugar factory at Kadegaon in the Sangli district. Patangrao Kadam is regarded as an educationist and he is the founder of Bharati Vidyapeeth, a private university in Pune.

Congress leader and former minister Vishwajeet Kadam said that senior leaders from the INDIA alliance will also be attending the programme and address public meetings.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and party MP Rahul Gandhi are expected to visit the Sangli district in Maharashtra on September 5 to unveil the statue of former state minister the late Patangrao Kadam.

Congress leader Kadam said in a post on X that office bearers of the Taluka Congress Committee held a meeting and discussed the preparations for the upcoming programme with the workers, office bearers and dignitaries present there. “A large number of activists and citizens from Kavthemahankal taluk will attend this program. Instructions were given to the office bearers for better planning in this regard”, the post added.

The president of the Sangli City District Congress, Prithviraj Patil also attended the meeting regarding the unveiling of the statue and addressed a gathering of Mahavikas Aghadi members. “Attended the planning meeting of Patangrao Kadam Saheb statue unveiling and Mahavikas Aghadi meeting at Sangli Congress Bhawan and interacted with everyone”, said the post on X.

It was reported on August 28 that as per sources, Rahul Gandhi’s US visit which is scheduled for September, was originally supposed to last around 10-12 days, but it has been shortened to 5-7 days because of the forthcoming Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana assembly polls.
