Rahul Chahar Confirms Divorce From Wife Ishani Johar Ahead Of 4th Anniversary

Indian leg-spinner Rahul Chahar has confirmed his separation from wife Ishani Johar, just days before what would have been their fourth wedding anniversary. The couple tied the knot in Goa on March 9, 2022, when Chahar was only 22 years old.

Taking to Instagram, the 26-year-old cricketer shared a heartfelt note, describing the past 15 months as the most challenging period of his life. Chahar spoke openly about navigating legal proceedings, gaining unexpected life lessons, and emerging stronger from the experience.

“I entered marriage at a young age, before I fully understood myself, my worth, or the life I truly wanted to build. What followed were years of lessons I never expected, and the last fifteen months spent navigating courtrooms, learning patience, resilience, and strength,” Chahar wrote in his post.

He added that the chapter has now formally come to an end following a legal settlement that brought closure to the matter. While acknowledging the emotional toll of the separation, Chahar said he harboured no anger or regret and instead viewed the relationship as a transformative experience.

“Some relationships are not meant to last forever. They are meant to awaken us, teach us, and transform us. I move forward wiser, more self-aware, and certain of the life I deserve to build,” he wrote.

Chahar, who last played for India in 2021, has represented the national team in seven white-ball matches. He is set to return to competitive action in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season next month. The leg-spinner was bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for ₹5.2 crore at the IPL 2026 auction.

In the previous IPL season, Chahar played only one match for Sunrisers Hyderabad and went wicketless. Over his IPL career, he has taken 75 wickets in 79 matches and was part of Mumbai Indians’ title-winning squads in 2019 and 2020.

Chennai Super Kings have assembled a strong squad for IPL 2026, featuring players such as MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Noor Ahmad, Nathan Ellis, Dewald Brevis, and Rahul Chahar among others.
