Radhika Yadav Murder Case Closed: Police Call It Premeditated, Friend Alleges Family Pressure And Envy

Gurugram Police on Sunday officially closed the investigation into the murder of 25-year-old tennis player Radhika Yadav, confirming it as a premeditated act committed by her father, Deepak Yadav. The decision follows a wave of emotional reactions online and key revelations made by Radhika’s close friend and fellow athlete, Himaanshika Singh Rajput.

Radhika was allegedly shot dead by her father on Thursday at their home in Sushant Lok 2, Sector 52, while cooking breakfast for her mother on her birthday.

Friend Reveals Family Struggles

In a series of emotional Instagram posts, Himaanshika claimed the murder was not spontaneous, but rather planned three days in advance.

“Her father had planned the murder three days in advance,” she said.

She also alleged that Radhika was under immense pressure at home, restricted in her personal choices, and emotionally isolated.

“She was completely broken and had simply given up. She even told her family that she was ready to live according to their instructions,” Himaanshika wrote.

According to her, Deepak Yadav was influenced by taunts from neighbors and acquaintances, who mocked him for “living off” his daughter’s success, leading to resentment and control.

Police Response and Evidence

While police confirmed that social media statements will not be used as evidence, they acknowledged that the case was “open and shut.”

“We have sufficient evidence against the accused in this case,” said a police spokesperson.
“Anyone could release videos with such claims,” they added.

According to the investigation:

  • Deepak Yadav sent his son out to buy milk—a task he normally handled himself—before committing the murder.
  • Radhika was shot four timesthree in the back and one in the shoulder, as per autopsy.
  • The licensed revolver and four spent cartridges were recovered from the scene.
  • Deepak confessed during interrogation, blaming social pressure, character doubts, and years of resentment.

Autopsy Details

A board of three doctors performed the postmortem. Although the FIR originally noted three gunshot wounds, medical evidence showed:

  • One bullet passed through, causing two exit wounds, explaining the discrepancy.

Motive

Investigators cite honour-based resentment and public shame as the motive.

“He admitted that taunts from villagers about living off his daughter’s income and questioning her character disturbed him deeply,” said a senior officer.

The final charge sheet will be based on forensic evidence and witness testimonies, police confirmed. The incident has drawn nationwide attention, with many calling for justice and stronger protections for women living under family control.
