Radhika Apte Set To Make Directorial Debut With Action-Fantasy Film Koyta (Sickle)

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 7: Bollywood actress Radhika Apte is all set to make her directorial debut with the action-fantasy film Koyta (Sickle), according to Variety. The film will be produced by filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane, known for his work on projects like Black Warrant and the debut film of Ranbir Kapoor’s cousin, Zahan Kapoor.

The announcement was made as part of the CineV-CHD Market lineup during the Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF), where 22 different projects were revealed, featuring both established and emerging filmmakers. Koyta will be available in both Hindi and Marathi.

The story of Koyta revolves around a young migrant sugarcane cutter who undergoes a forced medical procedure that gives her superpowers. She uses these newfound abilities to help free her family from crippling debt, combining elements of action, fantasy, and drama.

On the professional front, Radhika Apte is also gearing up for her role in the upcoming period thriller Akka, where she stars alongside Keerthy Suresh. The first look of the series was revealed in February at a grand Netflix event in Mumbai. Set in the 1980s in the fictional South Indian city of Pernuru, Akka is about a matriarchal society where gangster queens’ rule is challenged by an outsider, sparking a violent struggle for survival.

Akka is written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty and produced by Aditya Chopra, Yogendra Mogre, and Akshaye Widhani under YRF Entertainment. In addition to Radhika Apte and Keerthy Suresh, veteran actress Tanvi Azmi plays a significant role in the series.
