New Delhi [India]: Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar, received a grand Guard of Honour and a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday as part of his two-day state visit to India.
The Amir was warmly received by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with several senior ministers from the Indian government.
During his visit, the Qatari Amir interacted with key Indian officials, including President Murmu and various ministers accompanying the Amir’s delegation.
High-Level Talks and Diplomatic Engagement
The Amir arrived in Delhi on Monday, where he was received by Prime Minister Modi at the Palam Technical Airport in a special gesture. The Prime Minister referred to the Amir as his “brother” and extended his wishes for a successful visit.
Following the Amir’s arrival, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also met with him for discussions.
Focus on Strengthening Bilateral Relations
During his visit, the Amir of Qatar is scheduled to engage in talks with President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi to discuss various aspects of the growing India-Qatar bilateral relations. A banquet will be hosted by the President in honor of the Qatari Amir.
Notably, the Indian community in Qatar is the largest expatriate group in the country and plays a significant role in the country’s development, as per an official statement.
The visit is expected to further strengthen the partnership between India and Qatar, which has seen growing cooperation in multiple sectors, driven by historically close ties and consistent engagement between the two governments.
