March 20, 2026: Pushkar Singh Dhami expanded his cabinet on Friday as five BJP leaders took oath at the Raj Bhawan in Dehradun. The new ministers include Khajan Das, Madan Kaushik, Pradeep Batra, Bharat Chaudhary, and Ram Singh Kaida, marking a significant expansion of the state government.
The move comes after several vacancies in the council of ministers. The cabinet strength had reduced over time following the demise of Chandan Ram Das in 2023 and the resignation of Prem Chand Agarwal last year. This had brought the number of ministers down, prompting discussions around expansion.
With the latest inductions, the cabinet moves closer to its maximum permissible strength of 12 members. The expansion signals the BJP’s effort to strengthen governance and address political balance in the state ahead of upcoming challenges.
