Punjab Suffered Silent Genocide Due To Pakistan-Backed Terrorism And Drug War: Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla

As India’s global anti-terror outreach intensifies post-Operation Sindoor, Congress MP from Amritsar, Gurjeet Singh Aujla, has brought to light the deep scars left by Pakistan-sponsored terrorism on Punjab, calling it a “silent genocide” that devastated lives, forced migration, and economically crippled the state.

“Punjab has suffered the most because of terrorism,” Aujla told ANI, stating that the cross-border terror activities that began in the late 1980s displaced both people and industries, leading to a long-term economic downturn.

‘Pakistan Flooded Punjab with Drugs After Failing with Guns’

Highlighting the narcotics warfare that followed decades of militant violence, Aujla accused Pakistan of deliberately targeting Punjab’s youth through a state-sponsored drug influx.

“When peace prevailed in Punjab, they introduced drugs… More than 1 lakh people died due to terrorist activities and drug-related issues. This is a silent genocide,” said Aujla.

He further claimed that the rampant drug abuse in Punjab has been strategically used to destabilize Indian society and continues to be a major concern for national security.

Coordinated Messaging by Indian Delegations Abroad

Aujla said he had prepared a memorandum on Punjab’s suffering and shared it with multiple all-party delegations being sent across the globe to counter Pakistan’s narrative.

“I met the chairpersons of delegations like Shashi Tharoor and explained how Punjab’s pain must be shared internationally.”

This effort is aligned with India’s ongoing diplomatic campaign where cross-party delegations, including Congress MP Manish Tewari and NCP (SCP) MP Supriya Sule, are visiting Qatar, Egypt, Ethiopia, and South Africa, with a clear mandate to expose Pakistan’s long-standing terror machinery.

“For the last 45 years, Pakistan has been training and sending terrorists into India. We will tell the world the truth,” said Manish Tewari.

Background: Operation Sindoor and India’s Diplomatic Counteroffensive

India’s bold retaliation under Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, targeted terror infrastructure deep within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir. The precision strikes eliminated over 100 militants affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen—groups directly responsible for the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians.

In its aftermath, India launched a coordinated diplomatic offensive, sending multi-party delegations worldwide to:

  • Share the ground realities of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism,
  • Highlight India’s zero-tolerance stance, and
  • Seek global solidarity on terrorism.

Punjab’s Story: A Microcosm of India’s Anti-Terror Fight

Aujla’s statements underscore how Punjab has been a frontline victim of both armed insurgency and the weaponization of narcotics. His effort to ensure Punjab’s ordeal is documented in India’s international messaging is part of a broader narrative shift: from passive condemnation to active global engagement.

With Indian MPs engaging world leaders, former Prime Ministers, and top diplomatic representatives, India is firmly projecting national consensus and moral clarity—calling on the international community to recognize and act against state-sponsored terrorism in all its forms.

India’s campaign is not just about securing its borders—it is about safeguarding global peace, truth, and the right to live free from fear.
