Pune Court Remands Two Accused In Custody Till March 7 For Rape And Robbery

A Pune court has remanded two accused to police custody until March 7 for allegedly raping and robbing a 19-year-old woman in Shirur taluka, Pune district, police confirmed.

The accused, identified as Amol Pote (25) and Kishore Kale (29), allegedly committed the crime on Saturday night. According to Police Inspector Mahadev Waghmode of Ranjangaon Police Station, the victim and her cousin were confronted by the two men while they were talking at a secluded location.

The accused, armed with a sharp knife, threatened the duo and forced them to engage in an “obscene act,” which they recorded on video. They then raped the woman and stole her gold locket worth ₹10,000 before fleeing the scene.

The victim and her cousin immediately informed their family, who alerted the police. “An FIR was registered, and the accused were arrested within a few hours in the early hours of Sunday. The stolen locket and the cellphone used to record the act have been recovered. The accused have been charged with gang rape and robbery,” Waghmode stated.

Further investigation is underway.
