Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India]: A protest erupted at a private coaching center in Jaipur on Sunday after several students fainted during classes. Protesters demanded that the institute be sealed and a proper investigation conducted into the incident.
The exact cause behind the fainting of the students remains unclear, and an official confirmation is awaited. Affected students were promptly taken to the emergency ward of Somani Hospital for medical care.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Rajesh Jakhar confirmed that several girls had fainted and were immediately hospitalized. He assured the protesting students that their demands would be conveyed to senior officials.
“There is this Utkarsh coaching center here, some girls fainted—they were sent to the hospital for a check-up. Our ADM madam is also at the hospital. Students are protesting here, and I have spoken to them, and we will convey their demand to senior officials,” Jakhar said.
Jaipur Member of Parliament (MP) Manju Sharma visited the site and stated that the fainting was linked to a gas-related issue at the coaching center. She confirmed that 4-5 students had fainted but were now recovering.
“There were classes going on at Utkarsh, and then there was a gas issue. The students inhaled some gas, so around 5 students fainted. Now all of them are fine,” Sharma told ANI.
She added that doctors had observed significant improvement in the students’ condition and ruled out complications.
“I talked to the doctor, they said there has been an improvement, I talked to the girls too. There is a lot of improvement and no complications,” she said.
The MP assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to prevent similar incidents in the future.
“We have already formed a committee to investigate the matter, and whoever is responsible will definitely be punished,” Sharma stated.
Police officials confirmed that an investigation is underway, and the situation is being closely monitored. Further details are awaited.
