Projectile Debris Found In Jaisalmer And Amritsar Amid Escalating India-Pakistan Tensions; PIB Busts Fake Strike Claims

Jaisalmer/Amritsar [India] : As border tensions between India and Pakistan continue to intensify, security forces on Friday discovered a suspicious projectile-like object in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer. Police and security personnel immediately reached the location to secure the area and launch an investigation.

Premdan, the Station House Officer (SHO) in Jaisalmer, confirmed the presence of the object and raised concerns about its potential danger. “We have received information that this could be a bomb or a part of it. Police have reached the spot and an investigation is underway,” he stated. The nature of the object is currently being assessed by bomb disposal and security experts.

A day earlier, in Punjab’s Amritsar district, debris believed to be part of a missile was found scattered across open fields in the border villages of Makhan Windi and Jethuwal. SHO of Jandiala, Harchand Singh Sandhu, confirmed the object was a portion of a missile neutralized mid-air. “We are ensuring safety measures are followed here,” he said, as Army personnel cordoned off the affected area and placed bomb disposal units on high alert.

Congress MP from Amritsar, Gurjeet Singh Aujla, visited the scene and emphasized the need for cooperation with security forces. “The Army has been called here. We have to support them and the Administration. India only targeted terror camps in Pakistan, but look how they have responded—by putting civilians in danger,” Aujla remarked.

Meanwhile, a wave of misinformation on social media prompted the Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check unit to intervene. A Pakistani account claimed that a military base in Amritsar had suffered heavy casualties due to a Pakistani strike. The accompanying video, which quickly circulated online, was debunked by PIB.

The PIB labeled the video as “FAKE”, confirming it was footage from a wildfire that occurred in 2024 and had no connection to any military action or base in Amritsar. “Pakistan-based handles are spreading old videos falsely alleging strikes on a military base in Amritsar. #PIBFactCheck: The video being shared is from a wildfire from 2024. Avoid sharing unverified information and rely only on official sources from the Government of India for accurate information,” PIB stated in a post flagged as part of its “Pakistan Propaganda Alert.”

Authorities have urged citizens to remain calm, avoid speculation, and follow only verified government updates as the situation along the border remains tense.
