Los Angeles [US], January 9 : Wildfires raging across Los Angeles County have caused significant disruptions in the entertainment industry, with several TV shows halting production. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, more than a dozen TV shows have paused filming, and some location permits have been revoked due to the fires.
Among the affected shows are Max’s Hacks, NBC’s Happy’s Place and Suits LA, Apple TV+’s Loot, and Peacock’s Ted, all produced by Universal Studio Group. Other productions impacted include CBS’s After Midnight, NCIS, NCIS: Origins, The Neighborhood, Poppa’s House, and The Price Is Right, along with ABC’s Doctor Odyssey, Grey’s Anatomy, and Jimmy Kimmel Live, all from 20th Television. The Rookie, produced by Lionsgate TV and 20th Television, is also on hold. Additionally, the Warner Bros. studio lot in Burbank closed, halting filming on shows like Abbott Elementary, All American, and The Pitt.
The ongoing fires have also led to the cancellation of numerous industry events, including premieres and awards screenings, with the Critics Choice Awards being postponed.
In response to the devastating wildfires in Southern California, U.S. President Joe Biden has pledged federal support for relief and recovery efforts. Biden approved a major disaster declaration at the request of California Governor Gavin Newsom, ensuring that the federal government will provide essential resources and funds to assist affected communities.
On social media, President Biden stated, “We’re prepared to do anything and everything, as long as it takes, to contain the Southern California fires and help reconstruct. The federal government is here to stay as long as you need us.” He also affirmed the approval of federal assistance, ensuring that impacted communities receive immediate help to begin their recovery.
