New Delhi [India], January 30: AAP leader Priyanka Kakkar sharply criticized Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday, accusing him of staging a drama by pretending to drink Yamuna water. Saini had taken a sip from the river’s water during a visit to Palla village on Wednesday in an attempt to counter allegations made by former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Kejriwal had previously claimed that the Haryana government had “poisoned” the water supplied to Delhi, putting residents at risk. In response, Saini called Kejriwal’s statement “unfortunate” and accused him of spreading fear for political advantage. He also took a sip of Yamuna water to prove its safety.
However, Kakkar dismissed Saini’s gesture, saying, “He didn’t drink that water, he immediately spit it out. Instead of misleading people with such theatrics, he should address the issue of how badly polluted the Yamuna water is.” She also attacked the BJP for criticizing Arvind Kejriwal while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Delhi, just a day after a major tragedy during the Mahakumbh.
In a separate matter, Kakkar responded to the discovery of a suspicious vehicle near Punjab Bhawan in Delhi, which contained AAP pamphlets, liquor bottles, and a large amount of cash. She rejected the BJP’s accusations that the vehicle was linked to AAP, claiming that the vehicle’s owner was a BJP worker from Maharashtra, and its number plate belonged to a different car. Kakkar also pointed out that Punjab Police had confirmed the vehicle was not part of the state government’s fleet.
“The vehicle’s number plate is fake, and the Punjab Police has clarified that no such vehicle is registered with the Punjab government,” Kakkar said, dismissing the accusations as part of a baseless smear campaign. The Punjab government later issued a statement identifying the vehicle’s registered owner as Maj Anubhav Shivpuri, an Army officer who had been stationed in Pathankot three years ago.
