Priyanka Gandhi’s Maiden Lok Sabha Speech Garners Praise From Congress Leaders

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra delivered her maiden speech in the Lok Sabha, receiving widespread appreciation from prominent Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge.

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, lauded her performance, stating:
“Wonderful speech. Better than my maiden speech, let’s put it like that.”

Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi described Priyanka’s speech as “Excellent,” while her husband, businessman Robert Vadra, expressed pride in her address, saying:
“She spoke very clearly about her experience across the country… Congress will move forward strongly.”

Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge also praised her performance:
“She put all the facts before the Government – how the Constitution is being misused and how people, especially women, are not being protected.”

Key Points of Priyanka Gandhi’s Speech

During a discussion marking the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India, Priyanka Gandhi criticized the BJP-led NDA government, accusing it of attempting to dismantle the constitutional framework.

“Our Constitution is a ‘suraksha kavach’ (safety armour) that promises social, economic, and political justice. Over the last 10 years, the ruling government has made all attempts to break this ‘kavach’,” she said.

Criticism of Government Policies

Priyanka Gandhi alleged that the government is prioritizing corporate interests over citizens’ welfare.
“For one person, everything is being changed. All the businesses, including railways and airports, are being handed over to one individual, ignoring the plight of 142 crore Indians,” she remarked, indirectly referring to industrialist Gautam Adani.

She also accused the government of undermining reservations through privatisation and lateral entry:
“This government is trying to weaken reservations. Had they not won the Lok Sabha elections, they would have started working on changing the Constitution.”

Call for Ballot Voting

Suggesting a solution for resolving political debates, Priyanka Gandhi said:
“Conduct elections through a ballot, and the truth will be revealed.”

Tribute to Constitution and Martyrs

Priyanka paid homage to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives defending Parliament during the 2001 terrorist attack and emphasized the enduring strength of the Indian Constitution:
“The Constitution is the flame that keeps justice, unity, and the Right to Express alive in the country.”

Winter Session Updates

The winter session of Parliament, which began on November 25, has seen significant disruptions. The debate on the Constitution’s 75th anniversary and Priyanka Gandhi’s impactful speech marked a pivotal moment in the session, which will conclude on December 20.
