“Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Expresses Delight Ahead Of Taking Oath As MP In Lok Sabha”

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed her joy ahead of taking the oath as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha today, saying, “I am very happy.”

Priyanka arrived at Parliament accompanied by her mother, Sonia Gandhi, a Rajya Sabha MP. Also present was her brother, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

Congress MP K. Suresh shared that a detailed discussion would be held with Priyanka regarding the recent Wayanad landslide incident. “The opposition is very happy today because Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi is taking the oath as an MP from the Wayanad constituency,” Suresh said. He added, “We will discuss the landslide incident, as the Government of India has yet to sanction compensation and rehabilitation funds. The state government has already submitted a detailed proposal.”

Priyanka Gandhi secured a massive victory in the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat with a margin of 4,10,931 votes, defeating Sathyan Mokeri of the Communist Party of India (CPI). The seat saw a triangular contest between Priyanka, BJP’s Navya Haridas, and CPI’s Mokeri.

On Wednesday, Priyanka expressed her happiness after receiving her election certificate, calling it a symbol of the love and trust she received from the people of Wayanad. “My colleagues from Wayanad brought my certificate of election today. For me, it is not just a document; it is a symbol of your love, trust, and the values we are committed to. Thank you, Wayanad, for choosing me to take forward this journey to build a better future for yourselves,” she shared on social media.

The Wayanad seat was vacated by her brother Rahul Gandhi, who represented Wayanad but shifted to contest from Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh after winning there during the 2024 general elections.

In addition to Priyanka, Congress leader Ravindra Vasantrao Chavan will also take the oath as a Member of Parliament today. Chavan won the Nanded Lok Sabha seat in a by-election with 5,86,788 votes, following the death of the previous Congress MP, Vasantrao Balwantrao Chavan, which led to the bypoll.
