Priyanka Chopra-Backed Short Film ‘Anuja’ Loses To ‘I’m Not A Robot’ At Oscars 2025

Los Angeles [US], March 3: Priyanka Chopra and Guneet Monga-backed short film Anuja, set in New Delhi, was nominated in the Live Action Short category at the 2025 Oscars but unfortunately lost to the Dutch-language film I’m Not a Robot.

Directed by Adam J. Graves, Anuja tells the story of a nine-year-old girl, Anuja, who works in a back-alley garment factory alongside her older sister, Palak. The film highlights the harsh realities faced by children in such challenging circumstances.

Priyanka Chopra, one of the film’s backers, previously shared her thoughts on the project, stating, “This beautiful film shines a spotlight on a subject that affects millions of children around the world, who are faced with the impossible decision between a future they cannot yet see and the immediate realities of their present.”

She added, “Anuja is a poignant, thought-provoking piece that makes us reflect deeply on the power of choices and how they shape the course of our lives. I am immensely proud to be associated with such a phenomenal and impactful project.”

Anuja had already gained significant recognition, having been showcased at prestigious festivals like the HollyShorts Film Festival, New York Shorts International Film Festival, and Montclair Film Festival, before making its Oscar debut.
