New Delhi [India], February 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the Amir of Qatar, Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Tuesday for delegation-level talks. The two leaders exchanged pleasantries upon arrival and shook hands before diving into discussions.
The Indian delegation for the talks was led by Prime Minister Modi and included senior ministers such as External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, among others. The Qatari delegation was headed by Amir Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani himself.
Earlier in the day, the Amir of Qatar was given a ceremonial welcome and a Guard of Honour at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Droupadi Murmu, along with Prime Minister Modi and senior government officials, received the Qatari Amir. The Amir also interacted with various ministers during the event.
Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in Delhi on a two-day State visit. His arrival was marked by a special gesture from Prime Minister Modi, who personally welcomed him at Palam Technical Airport. During this welcome, Prime Minister Modi referred to the Amir as his brother and wished him a successful stay in India.
The Amir is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, senior officials, and a business delegation. This visit marks the Amir’s second State Visit to India, the first being in March 2015. The visit highlights the continued strengthening of the relationship between India and Qatar.
The Indian community in Qatar, which forms the largest expatriate group in the country, continues to make significant contributions to Qatar’s progress and development. The visit is expected to further deepen the multifaceted partnership between the two nations.
