New Delhi [India], January 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela in 2025 on February 5, according to sources.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to attend the Mela on January 27, where he will take a holy dip at the Sangam, perform Ganga Puja, and hold meetings with officials. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar is set to visit the Mela on February 1, also taking a holy dip at the Sangam.
Meanwhile, security agencies have heightened vigilance ahead of these visits, with special monitoring at major intersections and event venues.
President Droupadi Murmu is expected to visit Prayagraj on February 10 to participate in key events. Administrative and security preparations are being made to ensure the smooth and secure visits of these dignitaries.
Despite dense fog affecting the area, devotees continued to gather at the Mahakumbh Mela. The footfall of pilgrims is anticipated to rise, especially with key Shahi Snans approaching.
The Maha Kumbh Mela began on January 13 and will run until February 26. Upcoming key bathing dates include January 29 (Mauni Amavasya – Second Shahi Snan), February 3 (Basant Panchami – Third Shahi Snan), February 12 (Maghi Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).
As of January 20, over 88.1 million devotees have already participated in the sacred ritual at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, with more than 1.597 million taking a dip on the ninth day of the event.
