Pride & Prejudice Returns To Indian Theatres For 20th Anniversary Celebration

Mumbai – The beloved 2005 adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel Pride & Prejudice, directed by acclaimed British filmmaker Joe Wright, is all set to return to Indian theatres on July 25, marking its 20th anniversary. The re-release is being brought to audiences by PVR INOX in collaboration with United International Pictures (UIP), the theatre chain announced on Wednesday.

About the Film

Based on Austen’s iconic 1813 novel, the romantic period drama is set in early 19th-century England and follows Elizabeth Bennet, played by Keira Knightley, a spirited young woman navigating the expectations of class, family, and love.

Opposite her is Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy, the wealthy and reserved gentleman whose first impression creates tension and misunderstanding. As both characters confront their own prejudices and flaws, the story unfolds into a moving tale of mutual growth and enduring love.

Joe Wright’s Pride & Prejudice was widely praised for its lush cinematography, soulful score, and emotional depth, capturing the timeless themes of Austen’s work. The film earned four Academy Award nominations, including Best Actress for Keira Knightley.

The ensemble cast also features:

  • Rosamund Pike
  • Carey Mulligan
  • Jena Malone
  • Tom Hollander
  • Judi Dench
