New Delhi [India]: The Ministry of Defence has announced that a press briefing on Operation Sindoor will take place on Wednesday at 10:00 AM. More information about the operation will be released during the session.
In what is being called India’s most significant military action within Pakistani territory since 1971, Indian forces executed deep strikes targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), as reported by CNN. These strikes were aimed at neutralizing terrorist camps and leadership operating across the border.
The operation was launched in retaliation for the recent Pahalgam terror attack, specifically targeting leaders of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) — groups responsible for planning and executing multiple terrorist incidents in India.
According to an official statement from the Ministry of Defence:
“A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.”
“Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution,” the statement continued.
Sources informed ANI that Indian forces successfully hit nine terror-related locations — four in mainland Pakistan (Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot among them) and five in PoJK — using precision-guided munitions. The operation was a joint effort by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, involving significant troop and asset mobilization.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was closely monitoring the mission through the night. All nine designated targets were hit successfully, with the focus being on eliminating senior JeM and LeT operatives.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army reported that three civilians were killed as the Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire, launching unprovoked artillery and small-arms fire across the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB) opposite Jammu and Kashmir.
“During the night of 06-07 May 2025, the Pakistan Army resorted to arbitrary firing, including artillery shelling from posts across the Line of Control and IB opposite J&K. Three innocent civilians lost their lives in indiscriminate firing/shelling. Indian Army are responding in a proportionate manner,” the Indian Army said in a statement issued late Tuesday.
