President Droupadi Murmu Visits Prayagraj For Maha Kumbh Mela 2025

Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday to participate in the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela 2025.

Upon her arrival, she was welcomed by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The Rashtrapati Bhavan shared the update on X, stating, “Governor of Uttar Pradesh Smt Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath received President Droupadi Murmu on her arrival at Prayagraj.”

As part of her visit, President Murmu is expected to take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. Following her arrival, she also fed migratory birds at the site.

Earlier in the day, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, accompanied by his family, also took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam. Expressing his gratitude, Dhami told ANI, “People from all over the world are coming here for a holy dip of faith… I consider myself fortunate to be able to come here. The Kumbh of 2027 will be in Haridwar, and we have already started preparations for it.”

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 has witnessed a massive turnout, with the Uttar Pradesh government reporting that approximately 8.429 million devotees took a holy dip on Sunday alone. So far, over 420 million devotees have participated in the sacred event.

The festival, which began on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025), is regarded as the world’s largest spiritual and cultural gathering. It will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26, 2025 and is expected to set new records for participation.
