Janasanyog (Assam) [India], January 19: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan and extended an invitation for her to grace the Srimanta Sankardeva Award 2025, scheduled for April this year. The President has accepted the invitation, as confirmed by a press release.
In a post on X, CM Sarma expressed his gratitude, saying, “I had the privilege of calling upon Hon’ble Rashtrapati Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji. I am deeply grateful to the Hon’ble President for graciously accepting our invitation to visit Assam and present the Srimanta Sankardeva Award in April 2025. Her valuable time and guidance are truly appreciated.”
The Srimanta Sankardeva Award is named after the revered Vaishnavite saint and social reformer Srimanta Sankardeva of Assam.
In another post, CM Sarma shared his upcoming trip to Seoul and Tokyo, where he will present Assam’s vision for business development under #AdvantageAssam2, aiming to attract investors and entrepreneurs. He emphasized Assam’s strategic position as a key state in advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East Policy.
Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu honored the winners of the National Sports Awards 2024 at Rashtrapati Bhavan, including Arjuna Awardees from Indian men’s and women’s hockey teams and Olympic medalists.
