Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], February 10: President Droupadi Murmu on Monday offered prayers and performed the Ganga Arti at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj as part of the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela 2025. She was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel.
Earlier in the day, President Murmu also took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, a significant ritual during the Kumbh Mela. Upon her arrival, she was warmly received by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
“Governor of Uttar Pradesh Smt Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath received President Droupadi Murmu on her arrival at Prayagraj,” said Rashtrapati Bhavan in a post on X.
A Sacred Visit
Following her prayers, President Murmu took the opportunity to feed migratory birds at the Triveni Sangam, a symbolic gesture of compassion and reverence towards nature.
Uttarakhand CM Also Takes Holy Dip
Earlier on the same day, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with his family, also participated in the holy dip at Triveni Sangam. Speaking to ANI, Dhami expressed his gratitude for the spiritual experience, describing himself as “fortunate” to visit the sacred site. He also mentioned that preparations for the Maha Kumbh 2027, to be held in Haridwar, were already underway.
Maha Kumbh 2025: A Record-Breaking Gathering
The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, which began on January 13, has already seen millions of devotees taking part in the ritual of taking a holy dip. According to the Uttar Pradesh government, approximately 8.429 million devotees participated in the holy dip on Sunday, bringing the total number of participants to over 420 million.
The event, which is the world’s largest spiritual and cultural gathering, is expected to continue until Mahashivratri on February 26, 2025. As the Mela progresses, it is set to break new records for attendance and participation, drawing devotees from all over the globe.
