Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 13: Over 22 years since its release, Kal Ho Naa Ho remains an iconic Bollywood film, cherished for its blend of romance, humour, and deeply emotional storytelling. The film, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, and Saif Ali Khan, continues to resonate with audiences — especially the tear-jerking climax where Shah Rukh’s character Aman succumbs to a rare illness.
On Tuesday, actor Preity Zinta revisited memories from the film during a Q&A session with fans on social media platform X. One fan expressed how the movie still brings them to tears and praised Zinta’s portrayal of Naina Catherine Kapur, noting that the film taught them that “love sometimes means letting go.”
In a heartfelt response, Zinta revealed the personal grief she channeled during the film’s climax, disclosing that her first love had died in a car crash, which made the emotional scenes even more poignant.
“Yes I cry when I see it and I cried when we were filming it too! My first love died in a car crash so this film always hit different.
Fun Fact – Most scenes all actors cried naturally… and Aman’s death scene had everyone crying in front of the camera and behind it too,” Preity shared.
Zinta’s comments also allude to the tragic death of her father, Durganand Zinta, an Indian Army officer who died in a car accident when she was just 13 years old.
Meanwhile, Preity Zinta is preparing for her return to the silver screen with ‘Lahore 1947’, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. This marks her comeback after a long hiatus and is produced under Aamir Khan’s banner. The film brings together Sunny Deol and Aamir Khan Productions in a highly anticipated collaboration.
