IPL 2025: Purple Cap Holder Prasidh Krishna Reflects On GT’s Crucial Win Over SRH

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India]: After Gujarat Titans’ emphatic 38-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 51st match of IPL 2025, GT pacer Prasidh Krishna shared his thoughts on the team’s performance and his own consistency with the ball this season.

The win helped GT climb to second place on the IPL points table, tied on 14 points with Mumbai Indians, with only net run rate separating the two sides.

Speaking after the match, Krishna said the victory was crucial following a couple of breaks in their campaign:

“Honestly, it does not feel different. I am happy we got the most important victory. It was important for us. We had two long breaks, and after that, we didn’t win the game, so winning this one really mattered.”

When asked if this was his best bowling spell of the tournament, Krishna responded:

“I would say so. My control over the length has been good. All the work we’ve been putting in as a team, with everyone around being supportive — I’m enjoying how the ball is coming out.”

Currently holding the Purple Cap, the 29-year-old speedster has 19 wickets in 10 matches, averaging 15.36 and maintaining an economy of 7.48. His best figures so far are 4/41.

Krishna also detailed his match preparations, which begin with individual strategy and involve consulting experienced teammates:

“My preparation starts with what I want to do, and then what I’d do against someone I’m facing. I have a lot of people around who’ve played tremendous cricket, so I chat with them, focus on hitting the right areas, and go from there.”

Interestingly, Krishna mentioned his connection to red-ball cricket as well:

“I have one [red ball] in my room. I’ve been playing around with it but haven’t brought it onto the field yet. I’m focused on this tournament first, then I’ll look at what’s next.”
