Prabhsimran, Shreyas Lead Punjab Kings To Dominant 8-Wicket Victory Over Lucknow Super Giants

Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured a comprehensive 8-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday. With this win, PBKS climbed to second place in the IPL 2024 points table, while LSG dropped to sixth position.

Prabhsimran and Iyer Lead PBKS to Victory

Chasing 172 runs, PBKS openers Prabhsimran Singh (69 off 34) and Priyansh Arya (8 off 9) provided an aggressive start. Their partnership of 26 runs in 17 balls set the tone before Arya fell in the third over.

Captain Shreyas Iyer (52)* then joined Prabhsimran, and the duo continued to dominate the LSG bowlers. PBKS reached the 50-run mark in the sixth over, with Prabhsimran bringing up his fifty in the seventh over.

PBKS crossed 100 runs in the 10th over, but at 110/2, Prabhsimran was dismissed after a blistering knock that included nine boundaries and three sixes. Nehal Wadhera (22)* came in as the impact player and, along with Iyer, steered PBKS to victory in just 16.2 overs.

For LSG, Digvesh Singh Rathi (2/30 in 4 overs) was the lone wicket-taker.

LSG Struggles Despite Badoni and Pooran’s Efforts

After opting to bat, LSG struggled early, losing Mitchell Marsh for a golden duck in the first over to Arshdeep Singh (3/43). Aiden Markram (28 off 18) provided some resistance before getting bowled by Lockie Ferguson.

Captain Rishabh Pant (2) also fell cheaply, and LSG were reduced to 35/3 in 4.5 overs. Nicholas Pooran (44 off 30) and Ayush Badoni (41 off 33) revived the innings with a 50-run stand, but Pooran’s dismissal slowed down the scoring rate.

Despite late cameos from *David Miller (19), Abdul Samad (27 off 12), and Shardul Thakur (3)**, LSG managed 171/7 in 20 overs.

PBKS bowlers, led by Arshdeep (3/43), Chahal, Jansen, Lockie, and Maxwell, ensured LSG never gained full momentum.

Brief Scores

🏏 Lucknow Super Giants: 171/7 in 20 overs (Nicholas Pooran 44, Ayush Badoni 41, Arshdeep Singh 3/43)
🏏 Punjab Kings: 177/2 in 16.2 overs (Prabhsimran Singh 69, Shreyas Iyer 52, Digvesh Singh Rathi 2/30*)

A dominating chase by PBKS saw them claim a comfortable win, strengthening their position in the tournament. 🔥
