Speculation had been rife over the past few days that the sequel to Prabhas’ Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire had been put on hold following the box office failure of The Raja Saab. However, the makers have now firmly denied the rumours, clarifying that the sequel is very much on track.
Earlier, a report by Deccan Chronicle claimed that Salaar 2 had been stalled indefinitely, suggesting that the decision stemmed from the underperformance of The Raja Saab. The report also quoted a source stating that director Prashanth Neel and Prabhas were planning to revamp the sequel to align with changing audience tastes.
Putting all speculation to rest, the makers rubbished the claims by sharing a post on their official Instagram handle on actor Shruti Haasan’s birthday. The picture showed Shruti, who played Aadya in the film, posing with Prabhas as the two smiled while looking at a phone. The post instantly caught fans’ attention and reignited excitement around the sequel.
The caption read, “Aadya showing Deva what happens to her in #Salaar2!! What do you think it is?”—a line many fans interpreted as a subtle confirmation that the sequel is moving forward.
Fans flooded the comments section with excitement. “Finally seen Deva smiling,” wrote one user, while another commented, “Just imagine Devaratha risks for Aadya in Salaar 2.” Several fans also demanded a trailer, with many expressing how eagerly they are waiting for the second part.
Salaar Part 2: Shouryanga Parvam is expected to continue from where Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire ended, delving deeper into the escalating conflict between the characters played by Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Directed by Prashanth Neel, Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire was set in the fictional city of Khansaar and revolved around the complex bond between two friends-turned-foes. Released on December 22, 2023, in multiple languages, the film went on to earn approximately ₹650 crore worldwide. The cast also included Shruti Haasan, Eshwari Rao, Jagapathi Babu, and Sriya Reddy.
