FWICE Urges PM Modi To Posthumously Confer Padma Shri On Late Actor Satish Shah

FWICE’s Request to the Prime Minister

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give the late actor Satish Shah the Padma Shri Award after his death for his amazing work in Indian movies, TV shows, and digital entertainment.

On Tuesday, the association, which includes 36 associated groups and thousands of industry experts, wrote a letter praising Shah’s lasting influence and artistic legacy.

The letter said, “With folded hands and deep respect, we, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), humbly ask you to consider giving the Padma Shri Award (Posthumously) to Late Shri Satish Shah, one of India’s most beloved and distinguished actors.”

In memory of a talented and valued artist

FWICE called Satish Shah a “rare and gifted artist” whose shows offered “joy, laughter, and emotion to millions across India.”

The federation also praised Shah’s sense of humor, kindness, and generosity, saying that he was well regarded not only as an actor but also as a caring supporter of the entertainment industry.

The letter went on to say, “He was deeply respected by the working community and generously and graciously supported several welfare initiatives of FWICE.”
The body added that honoring him after his death would be a “fitting tribute” to a life spent serving others via art, culture, and entertainment.

A Legacy Written in Laughter

Satish Shah, who died in Mumbai at the age of 74, was best known for his indelible parts in “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro,” “Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai,” “Main Hoon Na,” “Om Shanti Om,” and many more famous works.

His funeral was at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle West, Mumbai. Friends, coworkers, and fans came to say their last goodbyes.

His wife, designer Madhu Shah, is still alive.
