The announcement of the 2026 Padma Awards on the eve of Republic Day brought a bittersweet moment for the Indian entertainment industry. Veteran actor Satish Shah, beloved for his legendary comic timing, was posthumously conferred with the Padma Shri for his immense contribution to Art.
“Too Late to Celebrate Himself”
The makers of the cult-classic sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, HatsOff Productions, shared a poignant tribute following the news. They reflected on how the award felt like a “certainty” during their time together on set, yet lamented the timing.
“It came late. Perhaps too late for him to celebrate it himself. But never too late for the nation to acknowledge a life dedicated entirely to entertaining generations… creating characters that became family.” — HatsOff Productions
Remembering Indravadan Sarabhai

- Television: Iconic roles in Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi (where he played 55 characters) and as the mischievous Indravadan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai.
- Film: Masterclasses in comedy like the “dead body” D’Mello in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, and memorable turns in Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, and Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!.
