Amid chants of “Jai Baba Kedar” and a spiritually charged atmosphere, the portals of Shri Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand were ceremoniously opened for devotees at 7:00 AM on Friday, marking a divine beginning to the 2025 Char Dham Yatra.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was present at the revered shrine to welcome pilgrims and take part in the sacred rituals. As the doors opened, a band from the Indian Army performed devotional tunes, and helicopters showered flowers, adding grandeur to the auspicious occasion.
On Thursday, the Panchmukhi Doli of Lord Kedarnath arrived from Gaurikund to the temple premises, greeted by emotional devotees and the resonating chants of ‘Jai Baba Kedar’ through the snow-clad Kedar Valley.
“After the ritualistic worship at Gaurikund, the Panchmukhi idol of Baba Kedarnath reached the holy Shri Kedar Dham. The atmosphere was filled with devotion and reverence,” CM Dhami shared on X.
Security and Pilgrim Services Enhanced
With lakhs of pilgrims expected to visit during the season, security arrangements were tightened, and forces have been strategically deployed across the region.
“Our top priority is the safety and security of the devotees. Adequate security forces are in place for both crowd management and protection,” said SP Akshay Prahlad Konde.
Additionally, the helicopter service for the 2025 Kedarnath Yatra has been launched from Sonprayag, offering an alternative for those unable to trek the mountainous path. The service aims to streamline pilgrimage and ensure accessibility for all.
The reopening of the Kedarnath temple is part of the larger Char Dham Yatra 2025, which officially began on April 30 with the opening of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams. The Shri Badrinath Dham will open on May 4.
