Policeman Injured As Rahul Gandhi’s Vehicle Runs Over His Foot In Bihar

A policeman sustained an injury to his foot on Tuesday when a vehicle carrying Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav ran over him in Bihar’s Nawada district. The incident took place during the ongoing ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra,’ a campaign led by the INDIA bloc against alleged irregularities in the voter list revision process ahead of the state’s assembly polls.

A viral video clip shows the policeman, who was part of the security detail, hobbling away with what appeared to be an injury to his left foot. He was immediately taken for medical treatment. The policeman was a bodyguard for the deputy superintendent of police (headquarters), assigned to provide security for the yatra.

While Rahul Gandhi was standing in the open-top vehicle at the time, it was not immediately clear who was driving.

The ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ is a 16-day march that commenced on August 17 in Sasaram and is set to cover more than 20 districts, culminating in a rally in Patna on September 1. The campaign, which includes leaders from various opposition parties, aims to raise public awareness about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls, which the opposition has labeled as a “conspiracy” to “steal votes.” The campaign has gained momentum following a recent Supreme Court directive for the Election Commission of India (ECI) to publicize details of deleted names from the electoral rolls.
