Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: Mumbai Police has collected actor Saif Ali Khan’s blood sample and the clothes he was wearing during the attack at his residence last week as part of their investigation into the incident.
According to the remand copy of the accused, Shariful Islam, blood-stained clothing belonging to both the actor and the accused were taken into custody and sent to a forensic lab (FSL) for analysis. The aim is to confirm whether the blood stains found on the attacker’s clothes match Saif Ali Khan’s blood.
The Bandra Magistrate Court extended the police custody of the accused until January 29, citing substantial progress in the investigation and the need to examine additional aspects of the case. The court noted the seriousness of the offence, which will be tried in a sessions court.
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder, identified as Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, who entered his Bandra residence with the intent to commit theft. During a violent confrontation, Saif sustained stab wounds to his thoracic spine and other areas of his body. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery and was discharged on Tuesday.
Mumbai Police discovered multiple fingerprints of the accused at Saif’s residence, including on the stairs, the bathroom door, and the door handle of his son Jeh’s room. The accused reportedly attempted to break into three other homes before reaching Saif Ali Khan’s residence.
The fingerprints, along with forensic evidence, are expected to play a crucial role in the investigation. Police suspect the involvement of accomplices in the case and have sought additional custody to pursue these leads.
This attack has raised concerns about the security of high-profile individuals in Mumbai, prompting discussions on strengthening security measures in residential areas.
