Hyderabad, Telangana: Hyderabad police issued a clarification regarding a letter circulated in the media that requested police bandobast for the release of the film Pushpa-2. The letter, addressed by Sandhya Cine Enterprise to the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Chikkadpally, was requesting bandobast on December 4 and 5, 2024, in connection with the film’s release.
In a press release, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Central Zone, Hyderabad, clarified that while the police receive numerous requests for bandobast for various events such as political visits, celebrity appearances, and religious programs, it is not feasible to provide police presence for every such occasion. The letter was submitted without any officer meeting with the organizers, which led the police to provide necessary crowd control arrangements at the theater. Despite the lack of a direct meeting, the police managed the crowd well until the actor’s arrival.
The police also pointed out that the actor’s actions were the primary cause of the subsequent stampede. The incident occurred when the actor exited his vehicle through the sunroof and waved to the crowd, attracting a large gathering towards the theater’s main gate. Simultaneously, his private security began pushing people aside to make way for his vehicle. Police had warned the actor’s team about the large crowd, but the situation escalated when he remained inside the theater for over two hours. The stampede resulted in the tragic death of a woman, and her son remains in critical condition.
Additionally, the police rejected allegations that personnel had mistreated actor Allu Arjun during his arrest. The police stated that when they arrived at his residence, the actor requested time to change clothes. He was allowed to do so, and there was no use of force or misbehavior from the police. He willingly entered the police vehicle after interacting with his family.
