New Delhi [India]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the nation’s civil servants on the occasion of the 17th Civil Services Day on Monday, reaffirming the government’s commitment to excellence in public administration.
As part of the celebrations, the Prime Minister will also present the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration, which recognize outstanding implementation of priority government programmes and innovative initiatives by districts, and both central and state government bodies.
In addition to the awards ceremony, PM Modi will launch two e-books: one focused on Holistic Development, and another on Innovations. These digital publications will showcase success stories related to flagship government programmes and transformative governance practices.
A special film highlighting the award-winning initiatives will also be screened before the awards are presented. This marks the seventh time Prime Minister Modi will be addressing the Civil Services Day gathering.
Civil Services Day is a time for India’s civil servants to recommit themselves to public service, reflecting on their roles in building a citizen-centric government. The day commemorates Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s address in 1947 to the first batch of Administrative Service Officers at Metcalfe House, Delhi—a historic moment that laid the foundation for the modern civil services.
To mark the occasion, the Government of India will host a day-long Civil Services Day Conference at Vigyan Bhawan in the capital.
The Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration have been designed to honor innovative, high-impact governance that improves citizens’ lives. The initiative encourages best practices among government institutions and drives transformation through grassroots-level innovation.
