PM Modi Takes Jibes At AAP, Highlights Government’s Development Initiatives

New Delhi [India]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a veiled dig at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, stating that while “some people are focused on building jacuzzis and showers,” the BJP-led government is committed to providing tap water to every home across India.

Replying to the debate in Lok Sabha on the motion of thanks on the President’s address, PM Modi also took a swipe at AAP, calling it “AAPda” (tragedy), and criticized Kejriwal’s alleged luxurious lifestyle by referring to “Sheeshmahal” (glass palace). His remarks came just a day before the Delhi Assembly polls.

“Some people in the country are focused on jacuzzis and showers. Our focus, however, is ‘Har Ghar Jal.’ Seventy-five years after independence, our government has helped 12 crore families get water through various schemes,” PM Modi said.

He further stated that while his government has saved crores of rupees through its policies, it did not use the funds for personal luxuries.

“Earlier, headlines were dominated by scams and corruption. In the last ten years, we have saved crores, and instead of using that money to build a ‘Sheeshmahal,’ we have used it to build the nation,” he added.

The BJP has repeatedly accused Kejriwal of misusing taxpayers’ money for the lavish renovation of his official residence, branding it as “Sheeshmahal.”

AAP as a “Tragedy” for Youth

PM Modi also criticized parties that he claimed were misleading the youth with false promises.

“We are working tirelessly to ensure a bright future for our youth. But some parties deceive the youth with election-time allowances that are never fulfilled. These parties are an ‘AAPda’ (tragedy) for the future of young people,” he said.

He cited BJP’s victories in Haryana and Maharashtra as proof of his party’s commitment to youth employment.

“In Haryana, we promised jobs, and as soon as the government was formed, youth got employment. This led to our grand victory in Haryana for the third time. In Maharashtra, too, we achieved historic results with the people’s blessings,” he said.

Vision for ‘Viksit Bharat’

PM Modi highlighted the vision for Viksit Bharat (Developed India) over the next 25 years, referencing the President’s address.

“We are in 2025, meaning 25% of the 21st century has already passed. The President’s Address strengthens the resolve of Viksit Bharat, builds confidence, and inspires the people,” he said.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to reply to the motion of thanks for the 14th time, he said, “I respectfully express gratitude to the people of India for giving me this honor.”

Government’s Welfare Initiatives

PM Modi also highlighted his government’s welfare initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the underprivileged.

“Till now, four crore houses have been given to the poor. Those who have lived difficult lives truly understand the value of owning a house. Women have long suffered due to the lack of proper sanitation, but we have built over 12 crore toilets,” he said.

The debate on the motion of thanks began on Monday, with several members participating in the discussion.
