New Delhi [India]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflected on the grand conclusion of Maha Kumbh 2025, describing it as a “Maha Yagya of unity” in a social media post on February 27.
Taking to platform X, PM Modi expressed his deep admiration for the overwhelming unity displayed by 140 crore Indians who participated in the 45-day-long religious gathering in Prayagraj.
“The Maha Kumbh has concluded… the Maha Yagya of unity has been completed. The way the faith of 140 crore countrymen came together for 45 days at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, at one time, and joined this one festival, is overwhelming! I have tried to pen down the thoughts that came to my mind after the completion of the Maha Kumbh…” PM Modi wrote, sharing a link to his blog titled “Maha Kumbh of Unity, the Sound of Change of Era.”
Symbol of National Awakening
In his blog, the Prime Minister described the Maha Kumbh as a moment of national consciousness, symbolizing the end of centuries of subjugation and the dawn of a new era.
“When the consciousness of a nation is awakened, when it breaks all the shackles of the mentality of slavery of hundreds of years and starts breathing with new consciousness, then a similar scene appears, as we saw in the Maha Kumbh of unity in Prayagraj,” he wrote.
He recalled the Praan Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024, emphasizing that the Maha Kumbh further strengthened India’s spiritual and patriotic consciousness.
“During the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, all the gods and goddesses gathered, saints and mahatmas gathered, children and old people gathered, women and youth gathered, and we witnessed the awakened consciousness of the country,” he stated.
A Lesson in Unity and Management
PM Modi highlighted that the Maha Kumbh not only served as a spiritual confluence but also as a case study for modern management and planning experts.
“This Maha Kumbh event has become a subject of study for management professionals, planning, and policy experts. There is no comparison to such a massive event anywhere in the world. The entire world is surprised how such a large number of crores of people gathered at the Triveni Sangam without a formal invitation,” he wrote.
Unprecedented Youth Participation
Expressing joy over the significant participation of India’s youth, the PM called it a positive sign for the preservation of Indian values and culture.
“The youth of India coming forward to participate in the Maha Kumbh sends a very big message. This strengthens the belief that they are the torchbearers of our traditions and are determined to take them forward,” he noted.
The Prime Minister also mentioned how those who couldn’t physically attend the event still connected emotionally, with returning devotees sharing sacred water from Triveni Sangam with their communities.
A Grand Festival of Self-Confidence
PM Modi reflected on the historic scale of Maha Kumbh 2025, noting that nearly twice the population of the United States took a dip in the holy waters.
“This Kumbh was not just a religious gathering; it was the reflection of a self-confident and united India,” he wrote.
He emphasized that the tradition of Maha Kumbh has shaped national consciousness for thousands of years, where sages and scholars have gathered to deliberate on societal issues and introduce progressive traditions.
“Now, this Maha Kumbh has given us the message of a new chapter in India’s development journey. Just as devotees from all backgrounds came together in unity, we must unite for the greater goal of building a ‘Developed India’,” he urged.
A Call for Environmental Responsibility
The Prime Minister also emphasized the need to keep India’s rivers clean, calling it a sacred responsibility.
“The confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati in Prayagraj strengthened my resolve for river conservation. Every river, big or small, should be seen as a life-giving mother, and we must continuously strengthen the campaign to keep them clean,” he said.
PM Modi concluded his blog by expressing gratitude to the people of Prayagraj, the Uttar Pradesh government under CM Yogi Adityanath, and all those involved in making the event a grand success.
“The physical form of Maha Kumbh has concluded, but like the uninterrupted flow of Maa Ganga, the spiritual consciousness and unity it has inspired will continue,” he wrote.
