PM Modi’s Five-Nation Tour Marks Diplomatic Milestone, Strengthens Ties with Global South: BJP’s Sudhanshu Trivedi

New Delhi [India], July 10: BJP national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi on Thursday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s five-nation diplomatic tour as a major step forward in India’s global positioning—strategically, economically, and culturally—especially in the context of strengthening ties with African and southern nations.

Speaking at a press conference, Trivedi emphasized that the visit, spanning from July 2 to 9, has opened a new era in India’s international engagement and highlighted three key takeaways from the Prime Minister’s engagements.

1. Diplomatic Stand Against Terrorism

Trivedi lauded the strong anti-terror stance adopted at the BRICS Summit, where member nations condemned the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. He described this global condemnation as a “diplomatic success” for the BJP-led Centre and credited PM Modi for ensuring that India’s uncompromising stand against terrorism was acknowledged at a multilateral forum.

“PM Modi categorically stated that perpetrators of terror and victims of terror cannot be equated. This has been an important strategic achievement,” he said.

He also praised Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for refusing to sign a joint statement at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meet earlier, as it did not reference the Pahalgam attack, calling it a principled stand.

2. Economic and Resource Agreements

The BJP leader underscored the economic benefits of the tour, particularly India’s new partnerships with Ghana and Namibia, nations rich in critical resources like copper, uranium, lithium, and rare earth metals.

“India has entered into agreements for resource cooperation, which are crucial for our technological and industrial future,” he added.

3. Cultural and Diaspora Connection

Trivedi also highlighted the cultural depth and emotional resonance of the Prime Minister’s visit to nations with a significant Indian diaspora, such as Trinidad and Tobago.

He noted that the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago has ancestral roots in Buxar, Bihar, which has further deepened the emotional and civilizational bond between the two countries.

“The diaspora that has been present in these countries for over a century now has received renewed recognition. The visit has elevated India’s emotional and cultural outreach globally,” said Trivedi.

Tour Summary:

PM Modi’s diplomatic tour included visits to Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia, and participation in the 17th BRICS Summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
