PM Modi’s Assam Visit Rescheduled To Two Days, To Inaugurate Key Projects And Celebrate Bhupen Hazarika’s Centenary

GUWAHATI: The Prime Minister’s visit to Assam, which everyone was looking forward to, has been pushed back. It will now be a two-day journey instead of a single day. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Wednesday that the Prime Minister will now come to the state on September 13 and 14 instead of September 8, as was planned before. The Vice Presidential elections, which will be held on September 9, are the reason for the change.

The Chief Minister says that the Prime Minister would now stay a night in Guwahati, which will allow for a more thorough schedule of activities.

On September 13, Prime Minister Modi will join the year-long celebrations of the birth centenary of Bhupen Hazarika, a famous Assamese vocalist and Bharat Ratna winner. The state government will organize a separate celebration on September 8 to celebrate Hazarika’s birthday, but the Prime Minister will be at the official centenary events on the new date.

The next day, September 14, will be set aside for a number of important infrastructure projects. PM Modi will go to Mangaldoi in the Darrang district to open the Guwahati Ring Road and a new bridge over the Brahmaputra River that would link Kuruwa and Narengi in Guwahati. He will also put down the first stone for the new Mangaldoi Medical College and Hospital.

After his work at Mangaldoi, the Prime Minister will go to the Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in the Golaghat district. There, he will provide the country a bio-ethanol factory. The plant, which cost ₹4,200 crore to build, is a big step toward sustainable energy and is meant to make bio-ethanol from bamboo. This project is a big step forward for the region’s green economy and its promise to cut down on carbon emissions.

The initiatives are an important element of the government’s larger effort to enhance infrastructure in the northeastern area. The goal is to increase connectivity, boost economic growth, and give the people of Assam new opportunities.
