NEW DELHI – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written the introduction for the Indian edition of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s autobiography, “I Am Giorgia — My Roots, My Principles.” This is a big sign of diplomatic and personal friendship. Modi called the book “her Mann Ki Baat,” which means “her Mann Ki Baat,” after his own monthly radio show. Rupa Publications will shortly release the book in India.
In his foreword, Prime Minister Modi talked about his conversations with world leaders over the past 11 years. He said that their stories frequently go beyond their own experiences to show “timeless truths.” He sees these facts in Meloni’s life and how she leads.
Modi said he “respected and admired” Meloni, calling him a “patriot and outstanding contemporary political leader.” He applauded her remarkable path, which he thinks is quite similar to Indian principles. Modi remarked in the book, “Her belief in defending one’s cultural heritage while interacting with the world on equal terms is similar to our own values.”
The foreword talks about how the two leaders are becoming closer, which has been widely recognized on social media with the hashtag #Melodi. Modi also talked about gender and motherhood, which are subjects that Meloni writes about in her biography. He praised her for standing up for “motherhood, national identity, and tradition.” He stressed that India and Italy are “bound by shared civilizational instincts” and a mutual respect for legacy and tradition, which he regards as the foundation of their partnership.
The first edition of the book was published in 2021, before Meloni became Italy’s first female Prime Minister in 2022. Donald Trump Jr. wrote the foreword for the U.S. version, which came out in August 2025. People are likely to like the Indian edition with Modi’s foreword. It will provide readers a unique look at the life and beliefs of one of the world’s most important political leaders.
