New Delhi [India]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his pleasure at welcoming New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon to Delhi, calling it “a matter of immense joy.”
PM Modi described Luxon as a “youthful, dynamic and energetic leader” and expressed his happiness that Luxon would be the Chief Guest at the prestigious Raisina Dialogue.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “It is a matter of immense joy to be welcoming Prime Minister Christopher Luxon to Delhi. It is equally gladdening that such a youthful, dynamic and energetic leader will be the Chief Guest at this year’s Raisina Dialogue.”
Reflecting on their earlier meeting, PM Modi noted, “We had wide-ranging talks earlier today, covering all important sectors relating to India-New Zealand friendship.”
Earlier in the day, PM Modi and PM Luxon held a bilateral meeting at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated on X, “PM Narendra Modi warmly welcomed PM Christopher Luxon of New Zealand at Hyderabad House today. Extensive discussions on bilateral relationships lie ahead.”
During their meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and addressing global challenges. PM Modi emphasized the importance of combating terrorism, referencing past tragedies such as the 2019 Christchurch attack and the 2008 Mumbai 26/11 attack. He underscored the need for strict measures against terrorism and separatist elements.
The two leaders agreed to collaborate on fighting terrorism and violent extremism through bilateral and multilateral mechanisms.
Prime Minister Luxon arrived in Delhi on Sunday for a five-day official visit to attend the Raisina Dialogue 2025. Earlier on Monday, Luxon paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
The visit comes as both nations aim to strengthen economic cooperation, expand trade ties, and enhance regional security. Notably, the visit has sparked discussions on negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and New Zealand.
