“PM Modi & Trump Share a Great Relationship”: Mary Millben on India-US Ties

African-American Singer Praises Modi-Trump Bond, Excited for PM’s US Visit and Upcoming India Tour

Washington, DC [US], February 13:

African-American singer and actress Mary Millben expressed her excitement over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United States, emphasizing his strong relationship with US President Donald Trump. She noted that it is “very significant that Trump has invited PM Modi in his first 100 days.”

Millben praised India as a key partner in addressing global challenges and said she is eager to hear the discussions between the two leaders on Thursday.

“If you remember back in the first term with President Trump, the US-India relationship was strong. The President and the Prime Minister certainly have a great relationship. We’ve seen that affection over the years, and I’m looking forward to hearing what they will say tomorrow,” she said.

“US-India Ties Are the Most Important Diplomatic Alliance in the World”

Highlighting the strategic importance of Indo-US relations, Millben said, “The US-India relationship is the most important diplomatic international alliance in the world, and that’s evident.”

She further added, “If you go down the policies and see how the United States and India benefit the world, it’s clear why this partnership is so crucial. This visit by PM Modi in Trump’s first 100 days speaks volumes about the importance of the Indo-US relationship.”

PM Modi Receives Grand Welcome at Blair House

Prime Minister Modi, who arrived in the US on Wednesday, was warmly welcomed by India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, and other officials. He is staying at Blair House, the official guest residence of the White House, known for hosting world leaders and dignitaries.

Millben shared insights about Blair House’s rich history, saying:

“It is such a beautiful residence, built in 1824 and purchased by the US government in 1942. It has hosted many heads of state. The Prime Minister will be very well received here. My friend Heather, who arranges the flowers for Blair House, is making beautiful bouquets for his arrival—it’s a very ceremonial and special place.”

Millben’s Upcoming India Visit for Independence Day & Diwali

Mary Millben also announced her plans to visit India twice in 2025—once in August for the Independence Day celebrations and again in November for Diwali.

“I am very excited to be coming back to India in August for the Independence celebrations and again in November for Diwali. This time, we won’t just be in Delhi but will travel across India. I look forward to visiting farmers, rural women, and young girls, as this is a big passion for me,” she said.

Millben, who famously performed India’s national anthem during Modi’s 2023 US visit, also sang a few lines during the interview, reinforcing her admiration for India.

PM Modi & Trump to Discuss Strengthening Ties

During this high-profile visit, PM Modi will meet President Trump to discuss key areas of collaboration, including trade, security, energy, and technology. Millben emphasized that India plays a crucial role in addressing global challenges and that the discussions between Modi and Trump will shape the future of the Indo-US partnership.

“We are facing some challenges across the world, and India plays a very significant role in mitigating these issues. It will be exciting to hear what the President and the Prime Minister have planned,” she added.

This is PM Modi’s first visit to the US since Donald Trump’s return to the White House for a second term. The Indian community in the US has gathered in large numbers outside Blair House to welcome the Prime Minister, underscoring the deep-rooted bond between the two nations.
