PM Modi To Visit US On February 12-13, Meet President Trump And Senior Officials

New Delhi [India]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the United States on February 12 and 13, where he will meet US President Donald Trump and engage with senior officials from the US administration.

This marks PM Modi’s first visit to the US since President Trump’s inauguration for his second term.

Addressing a special media briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri highlighted the significance of the visit, emphasizing the strong partnership between India and the US.

“At the invitation of US President Donald Trump, PM Modi will pay an official working visit to the US on 12th and 13th of February. This will be the first visit of Prime Minister Modi to the United States since the inauguration of the second presidential term of US President Donald Trump,” Misri stated.

He further noted that the invitation extended within three weeks of the new administration taking office underscores the importance of India-US relations.

“The fact that the Prime Minister has been invited to visit the US within barely three weeks of the new administration taking office shows the importance of the India-US partnership and is also reflective of the bipartisan support that this partnership enjoys in the US,” he added.

Key Discussion Areas: Energy and Defence

When asked about the agenda for the visit, Misri confirmed that discussions between PM Modi and President Trump will cover crucial sectors like energy and defence.

“Energy and defence, both of these are definitely going to be on the table when the PM and President meet. On tariffs, you have seen the announcements made in the budget, some of those are already out there. We expect that there will be a more intense and continuing conversation with the US on these matters,” he said.

PM Modi is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Trump in both restricted and delegation-level formats. In addition, senior US administration officials are expected to meet him during his visit.

“The PM will hold a bilateral meeting with Donald Trump in both restricted and delegation-level formats. The senior US administration figures are expected to call on PM during the visit. PM will also have the opportunity to interact with business leaders and members of the Indian community,” Misri said.

He reiterated that India’s relationship with the US has been among its strongest international partnerships in recent years.

Visit to France Before US Trip

Before traveling to the US, PM Modi will visit France from February 10 to 12, where he will co-chair the AI Summit alongside French President Emmanuel Macron and address the India-France CEOs Forum.

“After the AI summit, there will be a bilateral component to the visit and PM Modi and President Macron will address the India-France CEOs forum,” Misri said.

This diplomatic tour is expected to strengthen India’s global partnerships in key areas of technology, economy, and security.
